Pizza-Flavored Macaroni

Check out the dairy section of the supermarket for a selection of prepackaged pizza cheeses. They are generally lower priced than mozzarella cheese, and will also result in a great-tasting macaroni casserole.

Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1/2 tsp dried oregano

1 tsp dried basil

4 cup cooked macaroni

2 (8-ounce) cans tomato sauce

1/2 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese

1/2 tsp garlic salt

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

3 oz pepperoni, sliced

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Cook the beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat until browned and crumbly, about 5 minutes. Drain. Stir in oregano and basil.

  2. Combine beef mixture and macaroni in a large casserole; mix well.

  3. Combine tomato sauce, Cheddar and garlic salt in a small bowl; mix well. Pour over beef mixture.

  4. Sprinkle mozzarella over tomato sauce mixture. Arrange pepperoni slices over cheese. Bake casserole until hot and bubbly, about 20 minutes.

Pizza Macaroni recipe tip: For a quick and easy way to drain the macaroni, cook it in a large strainer submerged in a pot of boiling water. Then, you can easily lift the basket and drain the water.
